Founded by Marcelo Cordeiro in the South of Brazil, Compass Comercio Exterior was first created to attend the DIY export market which was in hype at that time (1997) in Europe. The high number of wood-processing manufacturing companies with industrial skills brought by european immigrants after second world war, together with the high density of pine wood forrests and the walking distance from the Main Harbors of the country, created the best scenario to start the business as we had everything to be competitive on the export wood market.

In despite of the challenging everyday life on comunication and logistics between countries at that time, Mr. Marcelo managed in a good way to make Compass one of the most successfull companies on the furniture export business, collecting almost 30 years of experience. During this period, Compass was  responsable for a large share of the total Brazilian furniture exports and bring lots of profitable business for many companies worldwide. Our company survived many global crisis and important changes.

As we all know, the internet for example is now part of the world business. The market is always beeing more demanding on quality, price, punctuality and design updates. Said that, the continuous improvement is a big part of our culture.

Nowadays, Compass is responsable for supplying some of the biggest home improvement groups of Europe, USA and Canada as well as big players on the E-commerce furniture market worldwide.  

 


Business timeline

1997

Compass was founded in the city of São Bento do Sul. (Southern Brazil)

2003

We have initiated a furniture hardware import operation from Asia through our partner, Liberty Business Trading Co., headquartered in Hong Kong, in order to supply materials to the furniture industry, primarily to our key Brazilian suppliers.

2008

We have built our own logistics park, in order to improve logistic timing between factories and customers

2012

Through our American company, Sguario Millwork, we established a logistics support warehouse for our American and Canadian customers. The warehouse is located in Eau Claire, WI and the primary focus among all our activities is the European and North American market for indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as home center (DIY products) market.

2012

we moved our headquarters to downtown in order to be closer to some necessary daily activities of our team and commercial partners.

2018

We started to focus on supplying the fast growing E-commerce business, growing our Quality Control team and creating an standard operation to attend this new market.
